Your Guide to the Snuggie Crawl

The sold-out event is Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023, from 7 p.m. to midnight. Here’s all ticketholders need to know.

The Snuggie

The embroidered Beat the Bitter Snuggie included in your registration is your ticket the night of the event and is the only Snuggie that will get you on the buses, free appetizers, and access to bar specials and activities.

Snuggies will not be handed out at the bars that night. Pick-up times were held on Jan. 25, Jan. 26 and Jan. 31. If you were unable to grab your Snuggie during the designated times please pick it up before the event at the recreation deck of the North Liberty Community Center (520 W Cherry St). Facility hours are Monday through Friday 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

All you need to bring to pickup is your Eventbrite ticket (This can be on your phone. Search for emails from “Eventbrite“). If it is easier for a friend to pick up for you, that’s fine! Just make sure they have a copy of your ticket.

The Bus Route

Start the night at whichever participating location you’d like. The beauty of this event is that the night is on your schedule, and you can jump on and off the bus at whatever stop you wish.

Busing will begin at 7 p.m. and depart approximately every 10 minutes for the duration of the event from each stop. No need to chug your drink and rush outside when you see a bus pull up. The loop will follow this order: Tin Roost → Copper Boar → The Leaderboard → J&A Tap and Reds → Mosley’s → Tin Roost → Copper Boar → and so on. If you miss one, don’t worry; the next departure will only be a few minutes away.

One final drop-off loop at midnight. The last pick-up is at 12 a.m., at which time buses will make one final loop to all stops for drop-offs only. If you still need a safe ride, take advantage of the $5 Lyft voucher included in your ticket with code SNUGGIE23.

Please consider tipping the drivers who are providing your safe transportation. Absolutely no smoking or alcohol will be allowed on the buses.

Snuggie Bingo

At Snuggie pickup, you’ll recieve a bingo card. Bring this with you to complete on the crawl. This game is on the honor system. Return cards night-of in collection boxes on buses, or at the North Liberty Community Center by Feb. 6.

Completed cards will be entered into a drawing, and three lucky winners will win gift cards to North Liberty restaurants.

Four in a row, column, diagonal or corners counts!

Capture the Night

Stop by the Unique Events photo booth at Mosley’s between 7 p.m. to 12 a.m. for a free photo strip of your group rocking your Snuggies.

Best Dressed

A fun tradition of the Snuggie Crawl is to add your own flair. Breakout that BeDazzler and alter your Snuggie however you’d like (the Snuggies are royal blue this year, if that helps get your wheels turning). You certainly don’t have to amp up your Snuggie attire, but there is a Best Dressed Snuggie title up for grabs that secures you a pair of free tickets to next year’s crawl. Check out individual and group looks from past contests in 20202019 and 2018.

Two pairs of tickets to next year’s Snuggie Crawl are on the line. One pair will go to the winner of Public Choice, the other to the winner of Beat the Bitter Committee Choice. If you want to be in the running, here’s how it works:

  1. Summon your inner designer and put your own twist on your Snuggie.
  2. Take a picture with the “VOTE FOR ME!” prop in the photo booth at Mosley’s.
  3. We’ll share an album of submissions on the Beat the Bitter Facebook page the week of Feb. 6, and the photo with the most LIKES will win the title of Public Choice. Committee Choice will be announced at the same time.

Meet the Sponsor

Visit with staff at McGrath Toyota of Iowa City at Tin Roost, play Plinko to win prizes, snag some free swag and thank them for their sponsorship of the Snuggie Crawl.

Optional Donation to Shelter House

Donation bins will be at each stop to collect unwanted Snuggies at the end of the night for Shelter House. If you choose to donate your Snuggie, make sure to only do so at your last stop, as bus drivers are directed to only let Snuggie wearers on the buses. Donation bins will be near the doors of each bar. Only non-decorated Snuggies, please.
