World Marathon Tracking
January 28 - February 5
The 2018 World Marathon Challenge is an amazing logistical and physical challenge to run 7 marathons on 7 continents in 7 days.
And North Liberty resident Deb Carneol is looking forward to the enormous feat. Yes, you read that correctly. One of our very own is preparing to run the standard 42.2 km marathon distance in Antarctica, Africa, Australia, Asia, Europe, South America and North America within 168 hours, or 7 days! The clock starts with the first marathon in Antarctica on Jan. 30, 2018.
We can all agree that Deb takes the gold medal for Beat the Bitter. While we are finding cheer on the bleakest days here in North Liberty, we’ll also be thinking of Deb and cheering on our neighbor from afar. Deb is one of 16 Americans, Team Hold the Plane!, getting ready for the journey. She is using her experience to raise funds and awareness for Clubfoot Solutions of Cedar Rapids, with a goal to raise $375,000 for the nonprofit. If you are interested, you may make a donation here.
