Fat Tire Bikes
February 3 @ 12:00 pm - 2:30 pm
Our friends at Sugar Bottom Bikes, will lead a 20-mile group ride starting at Sugar Bottom Bikes, through North Liberty (and Coralville’s Woodpecker Single Track). All bikes are welcome, but the route does have some off-road single track, dirt road, paved trails and streets, and fat-tires are recommended. Upon return to the shop, stick around for free drinks and snacks.
Participation is free, no pre-registration required.
The route will start at Sugar Bottom Bikes, 325 Dubuque St., and head south towards Coralville on the North Liberty Recreation and North Ridge trails. Once you reach Oakdale Boulevard, you’ll will ride through the Oakdale campus and take a secret dirt road towards the Holiday Road roundabout where you’ll make your way to North Ridge Park in Coralville. From there we will head down to the Coralville Woodpecker Single Track for a full loop of the trail, including the new three-mile loop that was added this past fall for about five to six miles of off-road, single track riding. After a full loop, you’ll head back towards North Ridge Park and from there will make our way back to North Liberty using almost exclusively paved bike path with a few “secret” off road sections along the way.
Mountain bikes are welcome if conditions allow but keep in mind this is a no drop fun ride and we will be moving about at Fat Bike Stomping Pace. The ride will be fairly organic and if the group agrees we could change the route or make pit stops to goof off along the way. We will plan on spending about 2 1/2 to 3 hours on the ride and will end at the shop with free drinks and snacks.
